Emperor Group Hosts “Spring Blossom, Green Guardianship” Environmental Event
As spring brings new life, Emperor Group recently held the "Spring Blossom, Green Guardianship" environmental event at Emperor Group Centre in Beijing. Emperor Group staff, along with tenants from CEEC City Investment Development Co., Ltd. and China Cheng Tong Asset Management Co., Ltd., formed a volunteer team to participate in eco-friendly activities, encouraging everyone to cherish Earth's resources and embrace a green lifestyle.
The event featured an environmental educator leading the volunteers on a “Green Plant Tour” from the Emperor Group Centre’s north to the south square. The volunteers toured the greenery and flowers along the way, learning about various plant species. The volunteers enthusiastically took photos of the trees, used apps to identify different plants, and engaged in Q&A sessions about tree care. Volunteers from Emperor Group expressed that although they see these plants every day at work, they rarely have the opportunity to stop by and appreciate them. This “Green Plant Tour” was not only a visual delight of discovering small beauties of spring but also an educational experience for maintaining a green environment, provided with many great benefits.
After the visit, the volunteers divided into four groups for an environmental activity called “Tree Care and Seedling Protection”. An environmental instructor guided them to create “tree pits” for the greenery at Emperor Group Centre’s south plaza. The tree pits involve digging out the soil around the tree roots to a depth of about a hand’s height and forming a circular hole. This method aids in concentrating on water and nutrients for the saplings, improving irrigation efficiency, reducing labour intensity, and conserving water. It also helps collect rainwater. The volunteers, using shovels they were not accustomed to, worked on turning the soil, levelling, compacting it. Under the guidance and demonstration of the instructor, they became increasingly proficient. After the soil preparation, they carefully watered the saplings, as the final step for setting up the tree pit. Following this, they sowed grass seeds into the soil, contributing to the spring greenery of Emperor Group Centre.
At the end of the activity, the Group provided each volunteer with an eco-friendly potted plant, encouraging them to decorate their offices and living spaces. This served as a memento of their contribution to a greener Earth and encouraged everyone to maintain environmentally friendly habits in their daily lives.
For many years, Emperor Group has long advocated sustainable development, earning numerous accolades. Looking ahead, the Group is committed to continuing its environmental advocates to promote a green lifestyle.
